The Bulls had the game in hand with a pretty decent lead in the 4th. The never ending barrage of 3s from rookie P.J. Washington and 2nd year man Devonte Graham stole the lead and the Bulls couldn’t keep up, losing 126-125.
Zach LaVine had an off game. He had one bucket in the 1st half and made some shitty turnovers throughout the game. But he’ll bounce back. Zach is too good of a scorer to brick that much. Lauri Markkanen wasn’t feeling it from 3, but he did offer a big FU to all the preseason critics who worried about his aggressiveness. He got up 25 shots, mostly on raging bull drives to the hoop and little pops in the paint. The Finnisher finished with 35 points and 17 boards. Charlotte could do nothing to stop him, except fouling. The rookie Coby White continued to show his confidence, hitting from outside and taking the ball to the rim. White added 7 assists – point guard of the future?
Kris Dunn played his ass off on defense, tipping balls and earning 4 official steals. He finished strong at the basket on multiple occasions, an achilles of his in the past. If Kris Dunn plays like this all year, look out 2nd units across the league. KD and Coby come at you fast.
Thad Young’s Bulls debut showed his value as a scorer and veteran presence. Tomas Satoransky also showed newcomer value. He’s really strong with the ball, a skill the Bulls need. Wendell Carter Jr. got after rebounds and threw down a couple nice dunks and putbacks.
Sucks to lose to a not-so-good team. But sometimes NBA players go nuts from 3. They’re all pretty talented. The Bulls are better than the Hornets, it just didn’t work out to a W. This team will be fun to watch all year. Lauri wants that superstar status. If he keeps this up, he’ll get it.
