Cubs hadn’t scored a run in almost 3 full games until Anthony Rizzo came through with a huge RBI single to tie the game.  Kyle Schwarber followed with a base-clearing 3-run triple and the offense is back!  Final score: Cubs 5, Mariners 1.

Ryno reunited with his longtime double-play partner Shawon Dunston before Sunday’s game:

My buddy the Beagle sent out a group text with that pic and the reminiscing about Shawon began.  Pure fun when Dunston was involved.  Javy brings that joy to the game at the same position, albeit with considerably more accuracy on his throws.  First base line fans would duck when Shawon wound up.

Ron Coomer reported that’s Javy thumb has some swelling, looks like he’ll be out a few more days after jamming it yesterday on a stolen base.  Addison Russell manned short today and was smooth.  Damn Cardinals won again so Cubs are still 3 back.  Cubs just gotta take care of business and they’ll get their chance against StL.  One more against Seattle then an off day Wednesday before 4 in Milwaukee.  Go Cubs GO!
