Golf & Chowder in North Barrington

Dr. Keith Sklar of Foot First Podiatry welcomed us as his guests to The Club at Wystone for an afternoon of golf.  He lives right on the course and the whole place is scenic and beautiful.  The course was designed by Jack Nicklaus.

I suck at golf and my first tee shot hit a house (not Keith’s).  After a couple holes we started playing best ball as our foursome struggled to keep moving.  Didn’t want to block up the course with our hackage.

We got going and played 15 holes on a sunny, breezy day before retiring to the clubhouse for dinner.  Eating clam chowder in the summer is a running joke on our show, after Steve did it after a round of golf.  So, of course we had to start off the meal with four steaming bowls of chowder.

Chowder was darn good.

We thanked Keith and bid farewell to Wystone for the day.  That’s when Dag suggested hitting up a local bar, Broken Oar.  Place was kicking with a rock cover band and a dock for boat parking.

Had ourselves quite the day/evening up North Barrington.  I only damaged one house along the course, so maybe we’ll get another invite next summer.
