Hank’s godparents took him over to Humboldt Park lagoon to watch Alligator Bob track the alligator who has garnered crowds of onlookers and dominated the news coverage in this town since his discovery midweek.

“Chance the Snapper” is now his name, given after a poll on Block Club Chicago’s Twitter feed.  It beat out Alligator Capone, Cloud Gator aka the Bean and Governor Pritzker’s suggestion, Croc Obama.  He’s evaded capture for four days now, and is presumed to be a pet who outgrew his aquarium.

I told Hank to stay away from the water’s edge, lest he become gator bait.
