Steve, Dag & I recorded our show live in front of a sold out room at Rock ‘N Ravioli on Church St. Unique venue and a lively crowd. I’m really proud of the results, the show was loads of fun and everyone seemed to have a blast.
We carbo-loaded with ravioli (what else) – I got the shrimp ravioli and it rocked my tastebuds – recipe with pineapple & coconut – I wanted to lick the bowl clean.
I also polished off about 3 soda gun Pepsi’s before switching to a beer for the stage.
Buzz went meat ravioli and sang its praises. You know it’s good if Buzz says so, he’s not one for lip service. Dag got short rib ravioli and let me try some. Superb, I tried to take more than he offered. Vince ordered prosciutto and the waitress complimented his choice, so you know it was a tremendous dish.
Steve opted for the “Bruce Springsteen” flatbread, which was totally boss. Ha. Many menu items have rocker names attached, a nod to the attached music venue.
The food here is legit. Not some venue afterthought. I’d eat here all the time and catch bands were I an Evanstonian or a Northwestern student. Luckily, I think we’ll be recording our podcast in front of another audience there again very soon. So I can try more food.
Again, the show was great and the crowd really stayed engaged throughout nearly 3 hours of our on-stage shenanigans. You can check out the audio at dahl.com. Not a free show, however. Will require you to sign up for the network. You won’t be disappointed if you do, in my humble opinion.
