The Italian beef you grew up with holds lots of significance to a Chicago-area kid.  Little Joe’s on Plainfield and LaGrange Rd was my first beef love.  And it still holds true.  Was back in the area until noon for some Dahlcasting and a WGN Morning News appearance.  I woke up a 5am and ate only a chocolate doughnut from Kirschbaum’s in Western Springs.  Incredible donut, but left me riding on empty by lunchtime.  A beef and cheese fries was just what the doctor ordered.  Sweet and hot with a large Pepsi.  Such a terrific meal.  Nostalgia never tasted better.
