It’s a Runoff

Chicago is set for a runoff election between Lori Lightfoot and Toni Preckwinkle.  Twas a cold election day, perhaps that contributed to the low voter turnout.  Either that or the confusion of picking between 14 candidates.  Or general apathy towards government and Illinois politics.  My polling place is right across the street at the park district, so I’m lucky.  I stopped in around 12:30pm and mine was the 98th ballot cast, according to the counter on the machine.

It’s slightly surprising Bill Daley didn’t make it past the first round.  I also figured Susana Mendoza would earn more votes.  Willie Wilson had a nice showing and Amara Enyia showed promise for her political future.  The 1-on-1 election will take place April 2nd.  Curious to see what happens and if more folks head to the polls to choose between only 2 candidates.
