There’s nothing like a dependable Irish bar.  One that never disappoints is Chief O’Neill’s on Elston just north of California & Belmont.  It’s a huge space with multiple bars, two levels and a big outside area in the summer.  The beer is always cold – I drink Smithwick’s – and the bartenders are of the friendly, listening variety with good senses of humor.  My buddy Wiz, it’s his neighborhood hang.  He’s always up there eating or grabbing a pint.  St. Patrick’s Day, as you might imagine, is an eventful day ay Chief’s with Irish music and all.  If you’re up that way, don’t hesitate to pop in for a Guinness.  Look for Wiz up at the bar.
