Thursday Tavern – Topo Gigio in Old Town

You hear Topo Gigio and you think Italian food – and it’s arguably the best Italian joint on the near North Side.  Every dish they serve is a sensation.

The bar scene is old school Old Town.  It reminds me of the pre-Benchmark Old Town.  Nothing against Benchmark, but it definitely signaled a neighborhood change to the new bar scene.  The Pour Houses & Vigs of the world keep bringing in new clientele while the Corcoran’s, Orso’s & Topos keep the tradition of days past.  Belly up at either the outside or inside bar, grab a beer or a cocktail and you’ll find a good crowd of old and young people to befriend.  Try an ice cold Peroni.
