The Ankle-izer: Injury Puts Denzel on the Shelf for the Season

Ongoing ankle instability is a diagnosis I’d never heard before.  Regardless, it necessitated surgery for Denzel Valentine and he’ll miss all of 2018-2019.  The good news is they say he’ll be 100% again in time for summer and next season.  Denzel was primed to be a nice rotation player with his playmaking instincts and lights-out three-point shooting.  His knee was a concern back when he was drafted, but his ankle has given him more trouble as a pro.  Ideally, he shakes off the early career injury bug and becomes a piece for the Bulls moving forward.  Valentine just turned 25.  All the best to Denzel as he begins the long road of rehab.  For this year’s Bulls, it probably means Justin Holiday will lock down the majority of minutes at the 3-spot with rookie Chandler Hutchison continuing to get a full rotation opportunity.
