Red Line Generation Gap

Aboard the Northbound CTA Red Line this evening everyone is on their phones, myself included. Everyone, that it, except two old timers at sitting across from one another near the door. One guy read a hardcover novel, the other went full spread on a Chicago Tribune. For a minute, I glimpsed a century of commutes on this very L Line, newspapers covering every face. I thought about standing up and framing an artsy comparison of the younger people on their phones, two empty seats, then two 70-something reading words on actual paper. But it would’ve been pretty obvious I was snapping a pic and I didn’t want to look like a total creeper.
