A Decade of Virginia McCaskey/Bears Radio Plays

Since the days of Rex Grossman, I’ve had the pleasure of penning Chicago Bears-themed radio dramas starring Buzz Kilman as Virginia McCaskey.  Not to mention Steve Dahl as Jerry Angelo, Phil Emery, John Fox & Matt Nagy.  Memorable turns by Jim “Kid” Ruffatto as Brian Urlacher, Pete Zimmerman as Rex Grossman & Dag Juhlin as Mike Glennon.  Also, many guests stars.  Biggest among them, guitar legend Joe Walsh, who dove into a role on this 2008 episode of “Angelo’s Ashes”:

Remember when the Bears went on a free-agency spending spree, dropping well over $100 million on Julius Peppers, Chester Taylor and Brandon Manumaleuna?  Refresh your memory with this glance inside Halas Hall on a 2010 episode of “Angelo’s Ashes”:

Eventually and rightfully, Jerry Angelo was relieved of his duties.  We had to rename the show.  During the brief Phil Emery tenure, it was called “Emery Bored” then it evolved into “Cutler’s Last Stand” – until Jay’s final bow:

Once Cutler was gone, we called the play “Virginia Monologues and it was Mike Glennon’s turn to step up:

Currently, it’s Mitch Trubisky & Matt Nagy interacting with Big V, before Week 6 against the Dolphins…

…and after Cody Parkey missed a potential game winner and the Dolphins won in overtime:

Who knows what kind of adventures our beloved Bears will run into next?
